Don’t Give a Piece of Your Mind…Instead, Choose Peace of Mind!

There will always be people that for some reason get to us in a negative way and hit those buttons in us that no one wants pushed. You know the ones…the ones that seem to send us into self defense mode… ready to fight or protect ourselves or those we love. We might find ourselves going off verbally, blasting the person/persons intentionally discrediting them and attacking their character. Or we might react in a way possibly harming the other person physically or causing harm to them in other ways.

If we don’t watch ourselves carefully we might end up making a really bad choice if we succumb to our angry flesh doing things that are out of character for us…things we cannot take back. It might “feel” good in the moment but the effects and consequences of our reactions could last a lifetime. It’s so easy to get angry about what others are doing or not doing. Been there done that. It doesn’t change what happened or make things any better.

It can be hard to even think about blessing someone who has treated us wrongly and that we feel doesn’t deserve it. BUT interestingly it’s exactly what God’s word instructs us to do. BLESS them and not retaliate. I think, in some situations, blessing someone could be as simple as not retaliating whether verbally or in a physical sense even though we may feel justified…j/s. God wants us to show mercy and offer forgiveness even though they may not deserve it. Hmmmm sounding familiar? He showed us mercy, offered forgiveness, and empowered us through his grace when he gave his Only Son, Christ Jesus for us on the cross. What an undeserved gift and act of love! We have to pause right here and thank the Lord for that! Thank you Thank you Thank you Lord! You are amazing God!

We have to choose to look at other options and learn to do things God’s way. His way is better. We have to make a choice to search for peace and work to maintain it. It’s probably easier to recognize and receive the blessings of God in our own life and actually enjoy them when we are at peace with ourselves and others. Next time you’re faced with a situation STOP. BREATHE. DON’T REACT. INSTEAD ASK HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP YOU TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT RESPONSE. CHOOSE to sympathize. CHOOSE love. CHOOSE to be tenderhearted. CHOOSE to remain humble. CHOOSE to forgive. CHOOSE mercy. CHOOSE kindness. Don’t give a piece of your mind, instead choose peace of mind!

Love y’all! Have a beautifully blessed day!

1 Peter 3:8-12 The Passion Translation

Love One Another

8 Now, this is the goal: to live in harmony with one another and demonstrate affectionate love, sympathy, and kindness toward other believers. Let humility describe who you are as you dearly love one another. 9 Never retaliate when someone treats you wrongly, nor insult those who insult you, but instead, respond by speaking a blessing over them—because a blessing is what God promised to give you.

10 For the Scriptures tell us:

Whoever wants to embrace true life
and find beauty in each day
11 must stop speaking evil, hurtful words
and never deceive in what they say.
Always turn from what is wrong
    and cultivate what is good;
eagerly pursue peace in every relationship,
    making it your prize.
12 For the eyes of the Lord Yahweh rest upon the godly,
and his heart responds to their prayers.
But he turns his back on those who practice evil.

We Are Called to Worship & Reverence God Almighty in Spirit & in Truth

According to John 4:23-24 God is seeking worshipers who will worship Him in Spirit & in Truth.

John 4:23-24 Amplified Bible (AMP)

23 A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers.

24 God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).

Then in Hebrews 12:28-29 it tells us we need to serve & worship God acceptably and with reverence….

Hebrews 12:28-29 New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptablywithreverence and godly fear.

29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 12:28-29 New International Version (NIV)

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”

We may think that what we are doing is right but we as Christians need to understand and know what God truly wants from us. It requires getting into His Word and meditating on what it has to say. God’s Word has the final say…the final authority. What is worship? What does it mean to reverence God? Sometimes it helps to look into the deeper meaning of the words we read.

I would say that worship … true worship starts in our heart… it comes from knowing who we are in Him, from having received forgiveness of our sins through the sacrifice of His Son Christ Jesus, trusting His love for us, and most of all understanding that HE ALONE deserves ALL glory, honor, & praise simply for who HE IS.

When we choose to worship God with all our heart we find ourselves drawing so much closer to Him… experiencing His presence & love in amazing ways. We hear from Him. He heals us. Our spirit is edified. So much occurs when we worship God. Mountains move…distractions cease…breakthrus happen…we encounter Him on a greater level when we get lost in worship.

Although we do benefit from worshiping God we have to remember that it really isn’t about pleasing ourselves & what we get from it. It’s what we bring from our heart to His. Worship is an offering, it’s thanksgiving, it’s showing Him respect & honor. He created us for His pleasure…He did not create us to be worshiped or to worship idols or false Gods..He created us to know Him, to honor Him, to reflect His character, His love, & to please Him. One of our goals in life should be to learn what He wants from us and then let our lives reflect it.

“And try to learn [in your experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [let your lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him].” Ephesians 5:10 (AMP)

Let us examine our heart today. Let’s get a fresh start today. Leave our old self & ways we have worshiped behind. Let us allow God to transform our hearts into true worshipers that are pleasing to Him.

Father God, we desire our worship to show you the reverence YOU ALONE deserve… worship that is acceptable & pleasing to you. Forgive us for being selfish and making it about ourselves and not You. Please show us what You desire and help us to honor you in this area of our relationship with you. Let our heart & spirit be sensitive to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit that we may become true worshipers. May our hearts reflect true love, reverence, praise, and worship for you always because YOU ALONE ARE WORTHY.

In the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Interrupt My Thoughts Lord

When negative thoughts and ideas are running rampant and out of control in my mind… interrupt my thoughts Lord.

When I am trying to figure out things on my own and I don’t know what to do… interrupt my thoughts Lord.

When all I can think about are the possible negative outcomes and not see the positive possibilities… interrupt my thoughts Lord.

When all I feel I can do is yell, scream, and cry out from within my heart, mind, and soul… interrupt my thoughts Lord.

When I’m thinking about acting out or reacting to a situation by lashing out instead of responding… interrupt my thoughts Lord.

When I begin to lose hope and have the slightest thoughts of giving in and giving up… Lord, I need you to interrupt my thoughts.

Don’t wait on me Lord… you have permission to interrupt my thoughts.

When I Look Up to The Sky

God always amazes me when He does something out of the ordinary. I received a very unexpected gift from the Lord the other day that blessed me so greatly and I thought I would share with you all about it.

My eldest son and my daughter-in-love are expecting their first baby. My son called me the other day and one of the things we were discussing were baby names. We shared various names we liked or loved with one another. We also discussed our thoughts on unique names, ones we thought were strong biblical names, and about the definition or meaning behind the name. We even talked about unusual names that we have heard parents have named their child such as Abcd!

I once again found myself apologizing to him for having named him after his father. I got pregnant with him at the age of 13 and I named him after his father in hopes that he would not be taken from me because of my age. Unfortunately his name is often mistaken for being a female’s name. In his father’s culture it can be for a male or female. From what I was told it means March the month he and his father was born in.

I went on to tell my son how I love unique names and shared a story with him about the years before I had him. At about the age of 10 I began babysitting my younger siblings as well as for others occasionally to earn some cash. I loved taking care of the little ones so I would often dream about the day I would become a mother and what I would name my children. Many times I would lay out on the grass in my front yard while staring into the clear blue skies and think that I would one day name one of my children Sky. I love the beauty of clear blue skies!

I wasn’t expecting what came next in our conversation to happen at all! After I finished telling him my story he went on to tell him how a woman had told him that in Turkish his name means Sky!!! I looked it up and sure enough there it was! I never knew! Unbelievable! My heart was so filled with joy! I couldn’t believe it!

It was over 30 years ago that I had that desire in my heart & only 3 days ago that I found out that He had already answered it. I just never knew it! God is so incredibly amazing and loving….isn’t He?!?!?

Well, I know that when God does something like that there is even more to it! My husband and I have been trying to conceive a baby the past few months and we have been standing on several His promises within His Word. To be honest, I had become a little discouraged about it not happening just yet and God used this as a loving reminder that He knows the desires of my heart and that in His timing it shall come to pass.

Not only that but He took me to His Word by using the keyword “sky” and reminded me of one of His promises in Genesis 15:5-6: 5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” 6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.

I can’t help but exclaim….Oh Lord who am I that you are mindful of me? I am utterly in awe of You! I surely don’t deserve it but I gladly receive it & give You all the glory!

I know from experience that sharing stories like this can help others recognize that God is always there working in our lives even when we don’t know it or think He is! Now I know for sure if unexpected surprises like this are taking place in my life they are happening in yours too! Please share a testimony by commenting below. You don’t know who you will bless by doing so!

Why Have You Stopped Dreaming?

I love this verse (Ephesians 3:20-21) in the Amplified….

20 Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]—
21 To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

Notice it has to do with glorifying God for carrying out and completing His plans and purpose in our lives. He calls us to do great and mighty things. He puts dreams in our hearts. We put Him in a box. It’s time to stop doing that and allow ourselves to be courageous enough to trust Him with the dreams He has given us. It’s time to seek out His plans and not ours because His plans, His ideas, His thoughts are so much greater than ours could ever be.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT)
8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

On our own those dreams and ideas may seem so far out of reach…I mean nearly impossible…well they may seem impossible BUT with God all things are possible! SO Pray & pray often! You are not in it on your own! God wants to be involved! SO DREAM BIG I mean beyond your wildest dreams BIG!….& Step out in faith to fulfill those dreams in your heart! Surround yourself with those who have gone before you. Connect with the right people and plug in. Discipline yourself to achieve and accomplish the dream. Read and study all you can about what God has placed on your heart! (2 Timothy 2:15) You do your part and God will do His! His Super added to your natural = SUPERNATURAL results!

Now share your dream…your vision with someone today that you can trust and that will hold you accountable to doing something about it!

God’s Word Is For You Today and Forever!

It is a powerful thing, when combined with your faith and the power of the Holy Spirit, you take and speak God’s Word over yourself and others. God tells us in Isaiah 55:11 (AMP) that: “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

We were created in His image and His breath of life flows through us. When we understand that and know that we are His children we realize the creative power that flows through us as believers and followers of Christ Jesus. We can & should speak God’s mighty Word with authority. His Word changes us from within. It renews our minds and thoughts. It protects our hearts. It also changes things and situations in our lives. It is so incredibly powerful.

I truly believe God is doing a brand new thing through the power of the Holy Spirit and His life changing…life giving Word in the lives of many right now. All it takes is a willingness to submit and surrender to Him and to truly have a heart that desires seek Him out.

God showed me long ago how to take His Word and personalize it. I don’t know who this is for but God lead me straight to it and told me to make it personal and share it as an example. I pray that you stand on the truths & promises of God mentioned here. I pray that you know that He is speaking directly to you, YES YOU! It’s not by accident that you stumbled across this message. He cares so deeply for you! He loves you so much regardless of what has happened in your life, is happening right now, or will happen in the future. He promises to never leave you. He is always pursuing you with open arms ready to receive you. I pray that you will see that through His own words here just how important you truly are to Him.

So as you read these verses. Personalize them. Insert your name. Read them over & over. Meditate on His Word and let it saturate your heart, mind, and spirit. You will be amazed at how doing this can change your day in such a positive way.

GOD’s Message to you, (your name), the God who made you in the first place, (your name) the One who got you started….
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am GOD, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you: The sacrifice of my Son Christ Jesus. His life for yours!

That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.
So don’t be afraid: I’m with you, (your name).

I want all of you back, every last one who bears my name, every man, woman, and child Whom I created for my glory, yes, personally formed and made each one. “You are my witness.” GOD’s Decree.
“You’re my handpicked servant So that you’ll come to know and trust me, understand both that I am and who I am. Previous to me there was no such thing as a god, nor will there be after me.
I, yes I, am GOD. I’m the only Savior there is.
I spoke, I saved, I told you what existed long before these upstart gods appeared on the scene. And you know it, you’re my witnesses, you’re the evidence.” GOD’s Decree.
“Yes, I am God. I’ve always been God and I always will be God. No one can take anything from me. I make; who can unmake it?”
….I am GOD, your Holy One, Creator of Israel, your King.”
This is what GOD says,
the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, The God who summons horses and chariots and armies—they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles:
“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is!”

Taken from Isaiah 43 The Message (MSG)

Let’s pray…
Thank you Father God for the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within us and for your living Word that washes us clean…that reminds us of who we are…what our purpose is…that guides and directs us in all we do.
You are so good to us Father…we thank you that no matter where we are at in life we can turn to you, repent, and be forgiven. We trust you…We trust your Word. Thank you that you never give up on us although we do give up on ourselves. Thank you for hearing our prayers. May we see your Word alive and working powerfully in our lives…healing, refreshing, transforming, and renewing our hearts, mind, body, and spirit daily. May your goodness, tender mercies & grace, and the love that you pour into us spill over to those around us that they too may experience these things and much more.
Oh how we love you and thank you for loving us with a perfect everlasting love.
In Jesus name. Amen!

My Morning Study 1 Thessalonians 3

I am listening to BJ Putnam’s cd as I study for tonight’s bible study with my hubby. We are studying 1Thess. 3 (AMP) tonight. There is so much here in this chapter but these are just a few things I have gotten so far from reading it this morning I thought I would share with you.

The first thing that came to me was in the form of a question. “Are you a Timothy?”

Paul & Silas had warned the Thessalonians that they would have to endure troubles, difficulties, & suffering. Concerned about how they were handling it all they sent Timothy to go encourage & strengthen them in their faith. (Vrs 1-5)

God wants to use us to touch the lives of others. Sometimes that means being a Timothy. He was a strengthener, establisher, exhorter, comforter, and encourager to those in need. Many people are hurting, struggling, and going through things in their lives today and need someone like Timothy to come along and build them up. I don’t know about you but I am so incredibly grateful for the Timothy’s in my life that have been sent by God to encourage me during difficult or challenging times! Look for opportunities to be a blessing!

The second thing that stood out to me was about how Timothy was able to return with good news that everyone was remaining in faith and that really encouraged Paul & Silas so much that they praised & glorified God! (vrs 6-9) We don’t always know it but people are always watching to see how we handle situations we are going through. It’s a powerful thing when we rely on God and are able to remain strong & joyful during our trials & tribulations. It can be such a witness & a testimony to others. Most of all, it brings great glory to God.

My favorite part of this chapter is that it ends with verses (12 & 13) that the Holy Spirit gave to my husband when he sought God’s direction in marrying me during a fast. We consider them our love verses. They are the verses we stand on for our marriage. We believe our ministry as a couple is to live a life of extravagant love for God first, then for each other, and let that extravagant love overflow into the lives of others.

Paul’s prayer and declaration over the Thessalonians was that they would increase in their love for each other and that God would continue to strengthen, establish, exhort, comfort, and encourage them all.

That is my prayer for you today my friends. Don’t forget to look for an opportunity to be a Timothy in someone’s life today!

Have an amazingly blessed and incredible day!

1 Therefore, when [the suspense of separation and our yearning for some personal communication from you] became intolerable, we consented to being left behind alone at Athens.

2 And we sent Timothy, our brother and God’s servant in [spreading] the good news (the Gospel) of Christ, to strengthen and establish and to exhort and comfort and encourage you in your faith,

3 That no one [of you] should be disturbed and beguiled and led astray by these afflictions and difficulties [to which I have referred]. For you yourselves know that this is [unavoidable in our position, and must be recognized as] our appointed lot.

4 For even when we were with you, [you know] we warned you plainly beforehand that we were to be pressed with difficulties and made to suffer affliction, just as to your own knowledge it has [since] happened.

5 That is the reason that, when I could bear [the suspense] no longer, I sent that I might learn [how you were standing the strain, and the endurance of] your faith, [for I was fearful] lest somehow the tempter had tempted you and our toil [among you should prove to] be fruitless and to no purpose.

6 But now that Timothy has just come back to us from [his visit to] you and has brought us the good news of [the steadfastness of] your faith and [the warmth of your] love, and [reported] how kindly you cherish a constant and affectionate remembrance of us [and that you are] longing to see us as we [are to see] you,

7 Brethren, for this reason, in [spite of all] our stress and crushing difficulties we have been filled with comfort and cheer about you [because of] your faith ([a]the leaning of your whole personality on God in complete trust and confidence).

8 Because now we [really] live, if you stand [firm] in the Lord.

9 For what [adequate] thanksgiving can we render to God for you for all the gladness and delight which we enjoy for your sakes before our God?

10 [And we] continue to pray especially and with most intense earnestness night and day that we may see you face to face and mend and make good whatever may be imperfect and lacking in your faith.

11 Now may our God and Father Himself and our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) guide our steps to you.

12 And may the Lord make you to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people, just as we also do for you,

13 So that He may strengthen and confirm and establish your hearts faultlessly pure and unblamable in holiness in the sight of our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) with all His saints (the holy and glorified people of God)! Amen, (so be it)!

Against All Odds

I’m sure I am not the only one who has seen an increase in problems and sufferings that people are facing today. Some things are in our control to make a change, while others are not. Often people will question why something is happening and from a biblical perspective I can tell you there is a great deal of spiritual warfare going on.

The Bible tells us we have an enemy, the devil, who is seeking to devour us. He came to kill, steal, and destroy God’s creation. From the moment we are conceived, birthed, and until we die the devil and his followers are on a mission. That mission is to make sure we either stay as far away from any desire of a relationship with God through Christ Jesus or to try to make our lives miserable if we choose to live our lives for God. (John 10:10 AMP, 1 Peter 5:8-11 MSG)

We are not the first to experience such troubles in life. The Bible is filled with many examples. Job is one of them. He lost all his children, his business, his wealth, his health, and friends all within a very short time. He overcame it all though and stood his ground still giving God praise and honor during His situation and God turned everything around for Job giving him double blessing for all his trouble. (See the book of Job)

Friends, I am so sorry if you are hurting today because of any difficult situations, physical or financial challenges in life, painful choices you have to make, or problems that seem to be piling up….I understand your pain and frustration. I really do. We may have Job-like trials in life but let me reassure you and remind you of the hope we have in God and His promises. (See Jer. 29:11-14) God does not desire any of us to fail, be discouraged, nor depressed with our life. He wants to see us rise above our situation and become who He created us to be. (1 Peter 5:10) He desires us to live to our fullest potential and enjoy life. What He did for Job, He will do for us when we take a stand against the enemy.

We need to cultivate our faith and tap into His grace daily. Grace empowers us to succeed in life. The Bible also tells us that the same power that rose Christ Jesus from death is the same power that is in those who believe in Him and have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior (See Romans 8:11).

We also need to pray in the Spirit and be led by the Spirit of God and not by our flesh. God tells us that the battle is not flesh and blood so we need to put on the spiritual armor He has provided for us. (See Eph. 6:10-18)

Some people choose to give into the enemy’s tactics and give up. While others, as if by some miracle, push through against all the odds stacked against them. These are the life & world changers.

Life and world changers come in all shapes and sizes…young and old…girls and boys… women and men. Every person is as unique as their situation. Some are born right into calamity & God knows… The Bible tells us that He knew us while we were yet formed in our mother’s womb. (Psalm 139, Jer. 1:5) He knew all along what situation and life challenges we would face right from the start. Some of those challenges are because of the devil’s devices and others because we suffer from the consequences of our sinful nature and choices and those around us.

Life and world changers are people who despite their lot in life have made a choice to press in and press on (Phil 3:12-14 MSG). They inspire and impact others sometimes without even knowing it just by their life and their testimony. They refuse to give up on life just because of a bad doctor report, loss of a loved one through death, abandonment or divorce or a severe trial such as a job loss or bankruptcy. They are truly overcomers. (2 Cor. 12:7-10 MSG, 1 John 5:4-5 NLT)

Now I am not saying they don’t experience discouragement or disappointment from time to time. Or even get angry and question God in certain situations. Many of them do, however, they do not allow trials and tribulations to dictate their future, their potential, or the possibilities in life. They take life one day at a time and are grateful for it. Gratitude, thankfulness, and trust in God goes a long way.

What about you? Are you a person that is fighting against all odds? Are you a life changer…A world changer? Can people say of you…”Your testimony inspires me…It changed my view of life….I know I can make it now….You gave me hope and now I believe” I don’t know about you but I want to see lives transformed for the better!

If you have a personal testimony of coming through a trial or overcoming a challenge or have a story of someone who impacted your life because of their testimony please share it here in the comment section. Nothing is too small. If you have overcome anything at all it’s a victory to be celebrated. Also keep in mind, what may be small to you may be something quite bigger to someone else. People need to be encouraged and know their live is not in vain. God uses people to reveal His plans, purposes, and wisdom to others.

Thank you to everyone who shares! God will use you to bless someone’s life today!

Just in case anyone has a birthday and you are reading this…. I pray you have the most amazingly blessed birthday ever! May your day be overflowing with joy, laughter, love, and lots of hugs. May you experience the hand of God in your life like never before. May your love for Him and knowing Him personally increase more and more. May you be debt free and have increase wealth, time, and walk in divine health so you can bless others. May you see your dreams come to pass. So dream BIG & don’t stop dreaming! May you walk out God’s perfect plan for your life. Happy Birthday!

My friends, if you don’t know Jesus I declare this is your day. Simple prayer…

Father God, I want to know you personally …for myself. I understand in order to come to you I must go through your Son, Jesus… Because that is Your plan.. You sent Your son as a gift and a sacrifice to redeem my life. I ask for forgiveness of my sins, my mistakes, those known & unknown. I thank you that Jesus died for my sins so that I may reconnect with you and be saved. I believe. I receive him as my Lord & Savior that I may enter into an eternal relationship with you than can never be separated. I will not question it. It’s settled in my heart, mind, & spirit. I am now your child and I am destined for greatness. When trials & tribulations come my way I will trust in you to see me through. I will make a habit of reading Your Word and living it. I will talk with you, not at You. & not just in times of troubles. I will wait and listen. I will pray in Jesus name. I will praise You for who You are. I will learn what it means to walk by the spirit and yield myself each day to walk in the spirit and not by my flesh. I will read Your Word and learn more about You and also how to be obedient to it and live out the Word on my daily life. I will trust Your promises for my life and know that You are for me and not against me. I thank you Father God, for my salvation & life. In Jesus name. Amen.
